Last evening, Buckingham Palace distanced itself from the impending Scottish referendum. The Queen insisted that the outcome of the vote is for the Scottish people to determine. These words are seemingly in conflict with reports that the Queen is ostensibly concerned with breaking up the 300-year union.

By now you have watched the violent video of Baltimore Raven Ray Rice knocking out his wife in an Atlantic City elevator. The NFL is oft accused of glorifying violence, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s hasty verdict to suspend Ray Rice for a meager two games without pay does nothing to challenge critics. The NFL shows through its actions that violence, both on and off the field, can be adjudicated with the proverbial slap on the wrist.

Chick-fil-A Inc. Billionaire, S. Truett Cathy, Pioneer of Fast-Food Chicken and Conservative Values, Dead at 93

S. Truett Cathy, a billionaire made famous for selling chicken and adhering to a six-day work week and conservative Southern Baptist ideologies has died at 93. The company announced his passing today, but did not cite a cause. His death comes at a controversial time when both unions (Service Employees International Union) and fair-wage supporters are rallying to force fast food establishments to enact at base wage of at least $15 and hour.
